Google&#8217;s Executive Chairman, Eric Schmidt, has recently spoken about another potential search partnership between Google and Yahoo. Back in 2008 the two search giants had a deal on the verge of moving forward, but it ultimately fell through over the federal government&#8217;s concerns that they would form a monopoly.<\/p>\n<p>From\u00a0<em><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/searchengineland.com\">SearchEngineLand.com:<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Apple, Google and mapping apps\u00a0weren&#8217;t\u00a0the only thing that\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/searchengineland.com\/google-on-ios-6-maps-app-we-havent-done-anything-yet-134274\">Eric Schmidt spoke about<\/a>\u00a0today in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>Forbes is\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/ericjackson\/2012\/09\/25\/eric-schmidt-says-google-would-love-to-replace-microsoft-as-yahoos-search-partner\/\">reporting<\/a>\u00a0that Schmidt also floated the idea of a Google-Yahoo search partnership. Dow Jones reporter Kenneth Maxwell was at the event, and shared this statement with Forbes:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Yes, I can confirm, Eric Schmidt definitely said they\u2019d be interested in working with Yahoo US. He also said nothing doing for the time being, but they would be interested. It was also mentioned to him that there is new management at Yahoo US with a Google connection. But he played it pretty straight\u2026. He also said they had expressed this interest to Yahoo before on a number of occasions.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That\u2019s right \u2013 it\u2019s not really a new idea and it\u2019s also an obvious one; of course Google would love to be Yahoo\u2019s search partner.
